I took music lessons for a month during my summer break while stationed at Mhow. That's where & how I was introduced to the tabla. It didn't take me long to appreciate the beauty of this instrument - and I doubt if listening to music was ever the same again. As I finished this artwork, I couldn't help but think of Mhow - a place that will always hold dear. It's here that I made my first painting under the supervision of a street artiste. The tabla always reminds of those good times, some new sounds and hopefully a musical 'ear'. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :-)

This is my first painting under direct supervision of a street artiste in Mhow (MP, India). My formal training of two weeks started with a poster version of it. The original was created by Raja Ravi Verma - a fact I discovered many years later. And as it turned out, now he's one of my favourite painters.
